Nails: All in the Family

I love painting my nails with a wide variety of colors. Painted nails are the ultimate accessory; they can say a lot about one's personality. These last two weeks I've been obsessed with the color pink and all of its varying shades. This week I decided to use two nail polishes, a pale pink - Sinful Colors in Star Fish - for my ring finger and a hot pink - Sinful Colors in Boom Boom - for the remaining nails. I definitely liked the overall look because both shades are in the same family but at the same time don't compete with eachother. Plus, this Saturday I'll be participating in a breast cancer awareness walk so I thought using these colors would go hand in hand with the cause.

Silver Girl

This is my current summer read, Silver Girl by Elin Hilderbrand.  I got it for review purposes for my other blog, but I am really enjoying it.  Hope fully, I'll be able to finish it upin the next week or two.  Afterward, I'll likely post my overall thoughts on the book but all signs point to it being an awesome summer read.

I'd love to know what's your current summer read?

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Sweden

This past May my hubby and I had the opportunity to visit Stockholm {Sweden} as a part of his grad school program.  It was my first time abroad and the truth is I was nervous to fly over seas.  Despite the nerves, I was so happy that I made the trip because the sights stunning, the people were extremely friendly and the food was delicious.

Lazy Musical Sunday

I love this song; but I hadn't listened to it for a while. It wasn't until I heard it on The Voice on Tuesday that I had to look up the original version by Cyndi Lauper.

Something Borrowed

One of my guilty pleasures is reading chick lit or any other type of fictional reading geared more towards women.  More in specific, I love it when the book is adapted into a movie.  My current guilty pleasure is Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin.  The movie adaptation starring Ginnifer Goodwin and Kate Hudson comes out May 6th.    Have you read the book yet?

Are you planning on watching the film?

Here are some other books that I've read simply because there was a movie: The Stepford WivesBridget Jones DiaryBridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,  The Twilight Series, The Devil Wears Prada, Confessions of a Shopoholic and many others.  I've loved them all!

Happy Earth Day

{somewhere in Vermont}
The official Earth Day started in the U.S on April 22nd, 1970 as a means of bringing more awareness to environmentalism and strengthening our connection to the planet. {source}

Shady Lady

I love the classic, hipster vibe you get with these Ray Ban Original Wayfarer.  Not only do they protect your eyes from the sun but, they can add a whole new dimension to any outfit.  Although a bit pricey, these sunglasses will definitely last you through out the years and who knows you might just want to pass them on to one of your kids.

What kind of sunglasses do you wear?

Coral Spring

I'm not a big fan of bright colors when it comes to my wardrobe, regardless of the season. So, what better way to bring a pop of fresh spring color to your style then by adding a hint of coral.

Green Delight

{my afternoon snack}
Springtime not only marks the arrival of beautiful warm weather, but also the arrival of yummy veggies.  I for one have recently become a devout fan of asparagus.  Having grown up in the Caribbean, asparagus was not something you would commonly find in the supermarket and if you did you probably overlooked it.  Now that I live in the U.S.A. it seems that I buy at least a big handful once a week.  I love the fresh, crisp flavor, its low calorie count and all the fiber you get.  Not only is it a great side dish, but I love to prepare it as a snack.  Here is the simple recipe that I follow.

Travel Destination: Sweden

{ View of Stockholm/City Hall }

Next month, God willing,  my husband and I will be going to Sweden.  It's my first time flying abroad and I am above ecstatic.  I'm already reading and looking up places to visit, shop and where to eat.  Once we are there I will most certainly blog about the experience and share worthwhile pictures.  Any recommendations as to how we can spend our time there?

Jeweled Variety

I've always been the type of person who enjoys jewelery, but doesn't like to spend a lot on  it . Only recently have  I discovered where to get inexpensive costume jewelery that's not only beautiful, but stylish.  Some of these stores include World Market, Target, Payless, and Belks. I'd love to know what are your go to places for costume jewelry!

Wet Spring

The weather here is now finally taking a turn toward official spring.  Buds have already come out and are making way for flowers and leaves.  I find it quite beautiful to see the gorgeous spectrum of colors popping about; from greens, purples, oranges and reds.  One other thing that I've noticed is that it has been raining a lot.  So, I thought it would be a good idea to invest in some beautiful, classic rain boots.  I've found a select few, that although a bit pricey would definitely stand the test of time and fashion.
